Stromness ceramicist Elaine Henderson has created a one-off hand-thrown bowl for one lucky winner at Orkney.com this month.
Elaine launched Scapa Studios in Stromness in 2011 after a wide and varied career in applied arts and music. Her work is inspired by the constantly changing Orkney landscape and its various colours and textures. Elaine produces hand-thrown stoneware and earthenware jugs, bowls, vases, mugs and much more.
She is also inspired by the wide and varied nature and wildlife found across the islands. The earthenware clay bowl she has produced for this month’s prize draw is a one-off and features wildflowers taken from her own drawings and photographs, collected over a two-year period.
You can find a selection of Elaine’s ceramics at outlets across Orkney, including The Longship, Sheila Fleet’s store in Kirkwall and at Castaway Crafts in Dounby.
To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is sign up to the Orkney.com mailing list and your name will be automatically entered into the draw. You’ll also receive their monthly newsletter, full of features and photos from our islands.
