Joining the Orkney Craft Association is now easier than ever.
It’s now easier than ever for professional arts and crafts makers in the islands to join the Orkney Crafts Association. A new feature has been added to the official website giving potential new members the chance to sign up online. It’s hoped it will make applying for membership a simple and smooth process for emerging businesses in Orkney.
The Orkney Crafts Association was founded in 1991 to bring together traditional and contemporary professional craft makers across the islands. The aim is to promote, support and develop high quality design-led work. Current members produce a wide range of quality crafts, from artwork and jewellery to ceramics, knitwear and furniture.
Full membership costs £100 per year and benefits include prominent listings on the OCA website and the Orkney Craft Trail brochure, the opportunity to feature in group advertising and subsidised attendance at national exhibitions and trade fairs. Members also get the chance to display their products at Orkney’s gateways and in the OCA-affiliated shop at Ortak in Kirkwall’s Albert Street.
‘We hope that the launch of our online membership process will make it easier for any prospective new businesses to enjoy the benefits of joining the Orkney Crafts Association,’ said Development Manager for Orkney Food, Drink and Crafts, Edgar Balfour.
‘The sign-up form can be accessed directly from the OCA homepage and contains all the information you need, including the conditions and benefits of membership. The Association is a busy and proactive group and we know there is a vast array of talent across the islands. We’d like to see new members join to help develop the arts and crafts industry in Orkney even further.’
