Laldie Haans - Program Launch
Plans for Orkney's first craft festival, Laldie Haans are underway and Elaine Henderson, the festival Director is ready to launch the finalised program for the 3 day event.
There will be as many as 44 events and creative happenings taking place throughout mainland Orkney and the outer isles to ensure that as many people as possible are able to take part and be included.
In addition to this there will be a special dinner taking place on the 28th of April at the Standing Stones hotel in Stenness. Festival participants are all welcome along to meet with like-minded creatives. There is also a special craft themed screening at the West End Cinema in Stromness on Saturday 30th April, and an Open Studios Tour of Orkney Craft Association members' studios and workshops on the 1st of May.
Laldie Haans will host workshops and events for all ages covering: hand knitting; soap stone carving; origami sculpture; maritime knot-work; wet felting; up-cycling, basket weaving; Neolithic pottery; hand weaving; theatre makeup; digital photography; pinhole camera and many many more exciting activities. Tutors are all experts in their fields and will be travelling from as far as Shetland and Cambridge – and include many of Orkney Craft Association's members - to share their skills and enthusiasm.
